I backed the Miskatonic Editon of the Cthulhu Dark arts tarot because clearly, 27 decks of tarot cards are not enough. And I am a big fan of HP Lovecraft’s work. The man less so though I do appreciate the lengths he will go to to find the perfect pen.
Hp Lovecraft was an eccentric old racist who created the Cthulhu mythos, a wide-ranging and sprawling weird fiction collection of stories that has influenced nearly every horror writer and fan since. but we are here for this Cthulhu inspired tarot deck by Bragelonne games
it is gorgeous. The art of the major arcana and court cards make the big cards worth the size and let you admire the detailed images, But it is a waste when we get to the pips. They are not full illustrations, just pure pips copied and pasted symbols in patterns to match the numbers not really giving any information on what the cards are about. which is a shame.
But my god, the gilded gold edging is shiny and so beautiful. I can see my magpie self taking out these cards to play the game that is in the bigger guidebook and getting lost in the shine. which thinking about that game might be more what this is about rather than the fortunetelling that is involved.
Overall I am happy with these cards. they came with enough art that I like occasionally switch out around my office or draw for practice.
