How’s your February 2022?

March 1st, 2022

This isn’t the best month for anyone. I like everybody is watching in horror at Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. It’s a frightening thing to watch and I can’t even begin to imagine how the citizens are feeling. there have been some happening things. The protests Russia the countries finally getting their act together to sanction Russia and Putin himself. I am sending my love and support to the people of Ukraine.

Music

I have ket up with the music composition. it’s still a mixed bag some pieces I like more than others. but I suppose that will always be the case. what I am finding good is I am developing as a musician because of it. my ear is improving and I am generating new ideas.

The host of a podcast I like his child died towards the start of the month. and I found myself really feeling hard about it so I wrote this lament for cello and piano. the idea being kind of based on a scream of sadness and dispair my mom let out when she was told my dad died. that still haunts me. putting it into this piece of music was cathartic

This next one is based on the idea of a kid playing near a snake, where I was imagining the violin playing the child playing and then the cello kind of taking on the role of both the snake and an ambulance later in the piece.

This last piece was supposed to be 30 seconds long for use with videos to drive engagement on Instagram. I misread the timer on symphony pro like an idiot. the pice was 30 bars long not 30 seconds. I like the sound though.

Art

This month was again mostly digital. and my favourite subject. Men with little to no clothes on… what can I say I like the male form. The pencil drawing was me testing how I am coming along following the draw like a boss book.

Book Editing

I am still going through the books putting together the story graph spreadsheets. It’s a great experience. at least for the first book which has the first few rounds of editing done. the spreadsheet has spotted some weak scenes caught some continuity errors. I like this method and look forward to seeing its result when I get to the actual scene rewrite stage.
