Road to recovery/Beating cancer

September 19th, 2017
It’s been a long time since I posted or even looked at my web page. I need to update it considerably. Still, the main reason I haven’t been posting is that I was beating cancer. Once the doctors diagnosed it, it didn’t stand a chance. Still, there is fallout from it. Chemotherapy is unpleasant and between that, Not being able to walk my dogs twice a day and comfort eating danishes I have put on about two stone( A small price to pay for that many danishes). I had months of nausea and exhaustion.
I still have radiotherapy which starts this week. It has been about 3 weeks since I finished with q chemo and generally feel a lot better. I am living with much less of a brain fog. I am not sure whether the brain fog was from the chemicals or just being tired.  There is a big shift in how I’m feeling and working. Sometimes I even wonder if I have recovered for the most part. or at least had some recovery from a week off that is providing the energy for where I am at now. speaking of which here is where I am at now project wise.
  • I am about 40% through the first draft of an epic fantasy novel. The target is 100,000 words. I’m months away from getting there but happy to be doing it. This story idea has sat in my head for a long time and getting it out and writing it down has felt good. The world I imagined is filling up. It’s developing a history and a backstory that I am seeing more clearly with each page
  • I am getting married in March. We pushed back because of illness. I have until March to fit into my suit.
  • Currently, I work for a company called Adscribe. Where we develop as serving platforms for set-top boxes. I get to use a lot of React and Angular. Front end stuff which I like. Especially react.
  • I am 12 days 30-day yoga challenge thinking it would be a good start to get me back on the road to fitness. I might need to stop when radiotherapy starts but for now, the plan is to do at least 20 sessions this month.
  • While I was sick I did a course in music composition with Udemy. It was a basic course dealing mostly with rhythm and melody
Over the next few days, I am going to be preparing for an update to the site. I built the theme in the last week and just need to prepare some images and a bit of testing. as well as making decisions on what I plan on uploading over the next while.  I definitely want to write about how the novel is going. Some of the challenges that I have had while sick and my road to recovery. Other projects and events along the way. I have a long road ahead getting back in shape. hopefully into better shape than I was in before the cancer was found and I would like to document how that goes.
