December challenge . Finish the book
This month in have decided to finish my first draft of the book. That means doubling my daily word count to get it done. I am able to do it but it is a challenge.
The decision was made when I hit 75000 words. I want to get it done because It would be my original plan for finishing the novel this year. Then I would take a break for a month.
It’s something Stephen King recommended. Get away from your novel forget about it and when you come back you can look at it with fresh eyes.
Editing is still the part I fear most. It’s what put me off every time I write. As a result, I have been looking at books and guides to editing. I plan on starting that around February if I get the book finished by the end of the month.
Adding the extra 500 words a day is difficult I have to work in the evenings as well to get to the 500. And if I have time I have added extra . It is a kind of race against time getting to my word count by Christmas.
One thing I have found as I work with the extra am extra 100 words have appeared in my morning writing session. I was hitting 550 now it’s up to 660-ish I seem to be writing a little faster in the morning
