Review: Headspace

April 24th, 2016

Headspace is a mindfulness practice application for both android and ios. A subscription service that gives users access to meditation exercises in order to learn and practice mindfulness.
As a constant  beginner in meditation I decided to try our the free 10 day course  to see what the application was like.

The good

The app itself is high quality and quite easy to navigate with a clean material design it packs in a lot of options and features without feeling cluttered.

The 10 day course consists of simple exercises that last no more then 10 monutes and short animations that introduce the concepts that you should be looking out for while practicing mindfulness meditation

The bad

The down side to the app at least the 10 day course is that It is very repetitive.  The narration of the 10 day course vary slightly very little. Wether the rest of the app  has much more verity then then the course I am unsure .

I think from what I have seen 70 euro for  a year is a bit steep.  I like subscription services. Netflix and Spotify prove their value Constantly but the price for what i see is a bit much.

The result

By nature I tend to be quite anxious it’s this that prompted me to look into meditation . 10 days in I found that most of my anxiety was gone and Even when it did start to rise I found practicing pieces of the meditation was enough to change what was going on in my head .
What I am going to do is practice what I have learned from this and the feet other books on the subject I have read by myself for the next week or two then decide if it is worth the price point.

70 euro for a years subscription to the app seems a bit high. Particularly since there are other free options such as insight timer.

I do like this app but to really sell it for me I think it should have showed off more in the the ten lessons audio rather then repeating what felt a bit recycled.
