So mostly this month, I have been focused on work. so here are the two main things I got done.
A design challenge
This was done at the request of my mom. Her dragon boat racing team, the Plurabells were having a 10-year anniversary (+2 for covid), and my mom asked me to design a t-shirt (it was also briefly a poster but came back around to being a t-shirt)
The colour palate was largely inspired by the Plurabelle paddler’s official colours with The cancer ribbon because they are a breast cancer team. Dragon boat racing is especially popular among breast cancer survivors as it helps build back up the muscle in the breast area.
There were a few iterations before they settled on the design below. This is as close to a professional illustration job as I have done, and I am proud of how it worked out. Apparently, The design spoke to a lot of the women involved, correctly reading the number of paddles representing the years and the cancer ribbon. What they added in their own interpretations was the reflection being for the members they had lost and the star in the negative space that, unfortunately was an accident. but I was grateful to hear it spoke to them.
The comic
I did manage to make this short comic to play with my characters on Halloween.
Mostly this month, it’s been a big focus on the day job as we are working to build our API after a problem with our database.
It has been a fairly lousy luck month for me with breaking my phone and having to replace my apple pencil. I am hoping this run of bad luck has settled down.
I found a good podcast about journaling. LL journaling sessions I am a big fan of journaling, but I found I was getting bored mostly writing bout how much I love tea. (and I do love it a lot.)
I am also working on setting up a red bubble shop to sell mostly stickers. So there is that to look forward to.
