So the college crazyness begins

January 30th, 2014

I started back to college this week it started with the scariest lecture I’ve ever gotten about how my masters project is structured There is a lot to it I am starting a very tough program and I have to pitch my idea next Tuesday. I am not even totally sure what my idea is and I have to pitch it. Complete with a little user analysis and research into competitors. Its a little on the deep end but I’m cobbling together something workable. I am suitably terrified there is so much work that is going to go into this stuff and has indeed gone into it already

Check out this template slide for my half formed idea.

The idea is a 3d immersive horror game designed for the Oculus rift. (I would need to get my grubby little hands on an oculus rift.) I have made inquiries about getting it.

This weekend there will be some technology research aka Lynda tutorials on blender and unity, Mostly as refreshers.

I would like to use as much free software as possible. To save money (shifty eyes I have no money)

Quick and dirty idea generation aside  things are going well for me. I have gotten below the 10 minute mile pace(9 min 56 seconds) and I am officially half way through the couch to 5k. and since Christmas i have 5 pounds putting me 1 pound below my pre-christmas weight 😀

 Pantigate

In less good news it looks like the first battle towards the gay marriage elections next year has begun. I have been following the whole issue between the Iona institute, RTE and Panti (Rory O’Neill). And the battle is over the language we have to use in the debate over Gay marriage. I don’t there should be debate only marriages for those that want them.

It sickens me that people are so opposed to the idea of my partner and I having equal rights and protections to them and then has the audacity to call us bullies when we apply a perfectly valid term (homophobic)

Here’s the definition according to Webster if the shoe fits guys

ho·mo·pho·bia

noun \ˌhō-mə-ˈfō-bē-ə\

:  irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals

The fact is I can’t see any reason to deny me equal rights and protections under the law other then it irks your phobia. I couldn’t care less about the religious aspects of marriage (I am at best agnostic at worst a chaos magician. When I was younger I was into the occult now I collect tarot cards cause their pretty and meditate cause it’s relaxing. )

I would like to get married some day and if I can get my partner to agree to the way I want to get married (massive beach party) I think I have the person who I would do it with. (A few years down the line.)
People like the Iona institute keep making the point that marriage is about the kids. Its not there’s a whole slew of reasons to get married.  But the kid thing has been settled gay people raise kids all the time. Be they biological from previous relationships, fertilization or surrogacy or through adoption. Gays are human beings with family and friends and a right to celebrate our love and offer our chosen partners our legal protection that has been to long denied

So come on let us eat cake
